Dear Baobao and Baby,
I’m slipping with these letters, and I’m sorry they’re slowing down. Life, you know! Well let’s see where to start from the last one…
Baobao’s finished his first term of school! He’s really settled in and enjoys it (phew!).
I normally do the morning drop offs and mama will do the pick ups. I used to take him on the scooter and walk there, but it rained literally everyday in September and most of October, so we started taking the tube. It’s not too bad and he really enjoys it – I thought it’d be bad with all the commuters.
I had to take a short business trip to Hong Kong, but of course BB is on his best behavior while baba is gone. I’m just sorry I couldn’t find that MTR toy train you wanted, but hopefully the MTR umbrella is all right!
We also celebrated baba’s birthday! When mama asked Baobao what he wanted to get for my birthday, he thought it’d be nice to get baba a shiny watch in the shop window we walk by every morning. Additionally, he wanted to tie dye some t-shirts for baba to go with my rainbow crocs because apparently he’s forgotten that he chose them and not me! It is very sweet and thoughtful.
We had a small intimate gathering with some close friends and a cake. On the cake, we used a big sparkler candle from BB’s first birthday that caused tears. Clever little him plugged his ears to watch it go off so the noise didn’t scare him!
Mama and baba are slowly nesting / organizing the flat. It surely feels like home now with very permanent furniture, but with mama’s belly getting bigger by the day, we are very conscious of what’s coming our way at the start of next year!
Given mama is having a c-section, we actually had some choice in baby’s birthday…including sharing a birthday with Baobao. The doctor ended up deciding the day, but as neat as it would be to have the same day, we thought each of you having your special day would be better (at least in your early years!).
And now we are in Innsbruck on our January ski trip that got rescheduled to BB’s first half term since baby’s delivery takes precedent. It’s been fun – stuffing our faces four times a day, daily rides on the gondola up the mountain for playgrounds, hikes, and mountain bike rides down the hill. It’s very green and peaceful here! Its our second time here and I imagine this becoming an annual family trip!
