One question I consistently get now is “How does it feel to be a father?” to which I generally don’t have a good answer for aside from the generic list of positive feelings or the stereotypical response about sleep deprivation.
It is not a hard question, but I think it is a question most people either don’t have time to think about or are too overwhelmed to keep track of all the changes. Upon reflecting, I fall in the latter camp. There’s big change like putting your needs before mine in general, and there’s small change like I’m no longer the only one your mom talks to in this house. I’m trying my best to document it all in one form or another just so I have a memory or reminder to reflect on it at a later point, but I get the sense it’ll just snowball into one giant experience called life. Maybe check back with me on this one a year or ten down the line.
In any case, your mom’s doing a great job with you and on very little sleep. Just look at that smile she brings on your face.
