I went on my first business trip since you were born. I missed you all so much! It was a relatively quiet week for me (I’m sure quite the opposite for your mother), which served as a constant reminder that I was away from you, Kili, and your mother.
The first couple of nights away, I woke up in the middle of the night thinking I could just roll over and see you. Instead, I saw pillows. There was one night where the hotel fire alarm did its best to imitate you by malfunctioning and blaring every thirty minutes or so for a good few hours…I let them have it at the front desk in the morning. I’m much more forgiving of a crying baby than I am of a faulty alarm.
So what is a new father to do to fill the void of his newborn son? Buy something for you, of course. But since you’re only four weeks old, my choices were limited, so I settled on more BOOKS! I hope you like books. If not, we should be all set if we ever need to start a fire. I am not in the market for getting you more clothes. Your mom has that covered because you see, while I’m gone, your mother finds and dresses you in whatever outfit she fancies, then sends me a picture.
I guess I could’ve picked up a lobster outfit or something embarrassing. That’s what fathers are supposed to do, right??
