I already told you how your mother and I reacted to the news when we first learned she was pregnant. And the first people we told about it were our parents. It was such a momentous piece of news – probably the biggest yet for both of us – to share that I wanted to document it somehow. This is one of those rare occasions where a photo is not worth a thousand words and can’t capture the moment.
So without further ado, here were the first words out of each of your grandparents’ mouths (I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily reflective of their personalities, but it kind of is):
My father *directed to me*:
My mother *while slowly forming a big smile*:
Are you serious? You’re not pulling me [my leg]?
Your mother’s mother *while driving car*:
When? When? What date?
Your mother’s stepfather:
Your mother’s stepmother *big smile with a pause*:
Very good! Congratulations!
Your mother’s father:
Oooh congratulations! Baba is so happy now.
You’ll meet them all soon enough. You couldn’t be luckier.
*I wish I could’ve done these in comic form. Maybe I will one day.
