These days, you’re often in someone else’s hands whether it’s your nanny or nursery. You’re at nursery for three half-days and your nanny watches for two half-days which includes a Saturday. The reasons are obvious – your mom and I work; we like our work and the cost of child care is covered between us.
However, it’s the Saturday’s I sometimes wrestle with whether I should spending that time with you rather than pursuing personal interests like drawing, gaming, or going to the gym. This dilemma rears its head whenever I look at you and wonder where the time has gone, which is damn near every day, but doubly so when I look through old pictures or videos of you. It’s hard to imagine that just two years ago you were literally a tub of lard grasping at how the world worked…and now you’re a boy who knows exactly what he wants and thinks he’s a little know-it-all.
Like most other things, I think it comes down to quality of time rather than quantity. Though I think if I’m not spending Saturday quality time with you, I should probably be spending it with your mother! I play way too many games. Here’s to hoping you’ll be an avid gamer too and we can bond over it!
