A friend once told me that a mark of a good relationship is if your life expands more (such as having more friends or more experiences) with that person in your life. I confess I never properly thought through the idea, but it just sounds right, so I always took it for gospel.
I never thought I’d befriend random strangers on the internet or go visit a place like Hampton Court Palace, but these things have happened because of you. From the cartoons about you that I’ve posted on Instagram, I’ve connected with a surprising number of people sympathizing, empathizing, or laughing along my journey as a parent. And together, with you and your mom, we’ve set out exploring all the (toddler-friendly) corners of London.
This past weekend, we made the hour-long journey to the Hampton Court Palace, getting lost in the garden maze, admiring the flowers, taking a step through history, and enjoying the wonderfully-kept outdoors. It wasn’t so long ago all of that would’ve sounded incredibly boring to me. I suppose the place in and of itself still holds little appeal to me, but being there with you makes it one of the most interesting places in the world. I suppose it’s why we find ourselves going to other places like the Stratford Westfield Mall, train museums, and the like.
