Your great grandfather on your mother’s side passed away this week. You don’t know him well, but you did meet him during our most recent trip to Taiwan. Even so, I feel sad you won’t be able to get to know him better.
People passing away always makes me sad. It’s such a simple and poignant reminder of how precious life is. Upon hearing about someone passing away, I inevitably begin thinking about what my life would be like when my own parents or your mother pass away. It would be incredibly sad; I don’t cry much in general, and I imagine I’m saving up all my tears for such an event.
I’ll be attending the funeral on behalf of your mom and since it’s in Taiwan, I’ll be tacking on a few days in Hong Kong for work. So be good to your mom while I’m gone. You’ve been quite the mama’s boy in recent weeks, so I have no doubt you two will get on just fine. See you soon.
