“Zi ji zuo, zi ji zuo!” [do it myself, do it myself] has become the most common refrain in our household at all times of day because you’ve decided you’re a little man / big boy now. From brushing your teeth to pouring your milk to putting on your diaper…everything is “zi ji zuo” (of course, everything except for the two things we do want you to do by yourself like going to sleep or using the potty).
But stepping back from the actual details, it marks such a big milestone in your life. You feel confident enough in your understanding of the world and your own physical abilities that you want to be independent. Or put another way, our little baby is growing up so fast!
Other fieldnotes I must jot down:
- There was a farmer who had a dog and BINO was his name-o. Not Bingo. Bino.
- You won’t carry around a stuffed animal or toy. Instead, you bring around a contact lens case, and you won’t let it out of your grasp when you’re sleeping.
- Your “Ye Ye, Ye Ye, Ye Ye, THIS ONE” all around the bedroom tagging various objects. Ye Ye for your grandpa, but not sure what the association is??
- You and your roly poly playing with your nanny, Silvia… the moment you woke up from a nap and saw Silvia: “Shall we go roly poly?”
