Lucky you this year because you ended up with two birthday celebrations (possibly a third one on the way in the form of a Benihana lunch, which is now becoming a tradition).
You had the little celebration at the ski resort’s creche and just yesterday, the birthday party your mother planned at the bowling alley. Sadly though, it became quite the intimate party because a few of the families had to cancel since there’s a bad cold going around…and a lot of our childless friends are now finally bold enough to say “No thanks,” to kid birthday parties. Still, I think we had a grand old time.
The fewer parties meant each family basically had their own bowling lane, which translates to a lot of chances for you to choose which ball you wanted to push down the bowling lane. It was your first time bowling and you were quite enamored by the whole thing. I suppose there is something deeply satisfying seeing your action cause stuff to get knocked down (thank you bumpers!).
We then gathered around for some of your favorite foods – chicken nuggets, french fries, and DONUTS (clever mama made you a donut cake). After a DJ-assisted “Happy Birthday,” you gobbled down two donuts because who’s going to deny you donuts on your birthday?
To top it all off, you and I tore up the dance floor. You took all of thirty seconds to get warmed up before we were jumping around, flowing with the beat, and being silly. I loved it. The sign of a proper dance session? All the sweat gleaming on our foreheads and our shirts sticking to our bodies.
I do have to give a shout out to the DJ who also played a Peppa Pig theme song remix. Mind-blowing.
At the end, we asked you what your favorite part was. You didn’t seem to have a hard time choosing – the bowling. I guess we’ll be going back there again in the near future!
