Another Christmas has come and gone – your third now! I could probably write this every time, but it’s crazy how fast the time goes.
We made a decision to open presents on the morning of the 24th this year because we were going to be home all day anyway, so we figured might as well let you enjoy your new toys.
It’s still strange for me to grasp you’re a rational being these days – we had made the comment to you the night before that we would open presents the next day. So when you woke up in the morning, per usual, you go downstairs first after we’ve sorted you out while we finish brushing our teeth and getting ready to start the day. Normally you play with your toys and we can hear some collateral noises as a result, but that day it was noticeably silent, so we didn’t think anything was afoot. By the time we got downstairs, you were sitting in pile of gift wrap having opened up almost all of your presents. You simply looked up at us and exclaimed how many new toys you had.
Anyway, the past few days have been nice since we get to spend so much time together. I’m sure your mom might be getting tired of having me around, but it’s only really once a year. We’ve gone on some family runs, learned how to read some sentences, and played trains…I suppose nothing out of the ordinary from a regular weekend, but it’s cool for me to be able to say that’s what we’re doing on a weekday!
You’ll be turning three soon. I’m looking forward to and dreading the day at the same time. It’s basically as simple as I love seeing you grow up but I also want you to stay as my cute baby boy.
